Rebels crushed 8-1 in Saskatoon

It was a rough night Wednesday for the Red Deer Rebels as they were blasted 8-1 by the Saskatoon Blades in the second game of their five-game road trip.

Tristen Robins scored twice while Kyle Crnkovic scored once for a 3-0 Blades through 20 minutes.

Scott Walford made it 4-0 in the second period before Ben King scored his eighth of the season to get Red Deer on the board.

Nolan Kneen then scored a pair to make it 6-1 for Saskatoon after two periods. Zach Huber and Colton Dach added third period goals to finish off the carnage in this one.

Rebels goalie Bryon Fancy gave up three goals on nine shots before being replaced late in the first period by Ethan Anders, who allowed five goals on 28 shots the rest of the way. Koen MacInnes made 30 saves in a winning effort for Saskatoon.

The Blades were 3-for-5 on the power play while the Rebels were 0-for-3.

The Rebels are off Thursday before continuing their road trip Friday night in Brandon (6 p.m. on 106.7 THE DRIVE).
