Poor driving conditions on QEII: RCMP

It’s been a bad day on the QEII Highway in the Red Deer area, so much so that local Mounties are telling drivers to stay away if at all possible.

RCMP have been busy attending collisions between Red Deer and Blackfalds on the QEII throughout the day on Monday.

One of the crashes involved a jackknifed semi that had both southbound lanes of the highway blocked for about an hour.

Roads are described as icy, slushy and there is limited visibility.

“The RCMP wants to remind drivers to slow down and drive for road conditions. Allow stopping time between yourself and the vehicle in front of you,” RCMP Corporal Laurel Scott says in a release. “Travel is not recommended in this area if it can be avoided.”
