EDMONTON- Transportation minister Ric McIver says some transport truck drivers will be permanently exempt from new training standards announced in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash that killed 16 people and injured 13 others.
McIver says the exemption is only for drivers with clean driving records.
He says drivers without a clean driving record will need to retest under the new safety rules.
The April 2018 Humboldt crash was caused by an inexperienced Alberta truck driver who blew through a stop sign at an intersection.
