Weekly green cart collection in Ponoka ends for the season Nov. 1

Oct 10, 2019 | 3:19 PM

The last day of the season for weekly pick up of compostable waste in your Green Cart is November 1.

Green Carts will be emptied every second week during the winter months, from November 6 until May when weekly collection will begin again.

Garbage (in the Grey Bin) and clear plastic bags of recycling will continue to be picked up biweekly on the alternate weeks.

Ponoka residents can refer to their Waste Collection Calendar with any questions.

Copies of the Town of Ponoka Waste Collection Calendar are posted on the Town website (click on ‘Community’ on the top menu bar, and then click ‘Recycling, Disposal & Waste’ on the side menu).

Paper copies are also available at the Town Office for pick up at #200, 5604-50 St.

Residents are reminded that most compostable household and yard waste will be collected for compost in their Green Carts year round.

A complete list of items that can be composted in your Green Cart is posted on the Town website on the same page as the Waste Collection Calendar (see above).

Paper copies are available at the Town Office for pick up.

Residents who have questions can phone 403-7830159.

Town of Ponoka residents are welcome to bring compostable yard waste to the Town’s Waste Transfer Station free of charge year round.

The Waste Transfer Station is located just outside of the northeast Town corporate limits on 46 Street.

Beginning Nov. 1, winter hours of operation at the Waste Transfer Station are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
