Southern Alberta man charged with sex crimes involving children, animals

MEDICINE HAT – A man from southern Alberta is facing multiple sex charges involving a child and animals.

Police say the man was arrested after a search on Saturday of a Medicine Hat home where computers and electronic devices were seized.

Sgt. Kirt Murray says in a release that the primary concern now is to identify the child so as to be able to provide support and resources.

Cody Herrell, who is 26, is accused of sexual assault, bestiality and possessing and distributing child pornography.

Herrell has been released from custody and is to appear in Medicine Hat court on Oct. 17.
