Weather Network’s fall forecast

OAKVILLE, ONT.- Ready or not, fall weather is here!

After a short summer, autumnal weather has arrived early across most of Canada, and many Canadians are wondering if this means that winter is just around the corner.

The Weather Network is out with its seasonal forecast for all of Canada today, and predicts we can expect average temperatures this fall and a cold winter in central and eastern parts of the country.

The network is predicting Western Canada, including B.C., Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories, and parts of Atlantic Canada will have slightly warmer-than-normal fall temperatures because of warmer oceans and wetter conditions along coastal areas.

While B.C. and the western parts of the Prairies, including Alberta, are also expected to enjoy a milder winter, forecasts are trending colder from eastern Saskatchewan all the way east to the Atlantic.

“While fall has burst onto the scene long before most Canadians were ready, we are not in a free-fall to winter” said Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network. “This fall will still include extended stretches of pleasant weather to go along with the inevitable periods of unsettled weather. However, Canadians should be sure to get outside and savour the mild weather while it lasts, because a cold winter is looming for much of the country.”
