Innisfail water skier earns gold with Team Canada at World Championships

Central Alberta water skier Dorien Llewellyn is celebrating another gold medal win this summer.

The Innisfail native and his Team Canada teammates earned an Overall Team gold at the 2019 IWWF World Waterski Open Championships held in Putrajaya, Malaysia Aug. 13-18.

Individually, Llewellyn placed fifth in Tricks, 13th in Jump, tied for 27th in Slalom and placed sixth in the Overall Open Men’s standings.

Earlier this summer, Llewellyn earned three medals at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru, picking up gold in the Men’s Overall Final, silver in the Men’s Tricks Final and bronze in the Men’s Jump Final.
