Lacombe man arrested after ‘distraught’ woman makes call to police
A Lacombe man is in custody following an incident on Friday morning where the Red Deer River and Medicine River meet.
Innisfail RCMP, who’d set up shop at Hwy 54 and RR 14, say they responded around 12:50 a.m. after a complaint from a distraught female who was camping in that area.
Mounties made contact with the woman who had stated she’d been assaulted by her male companion. However, the woman was stuck on the south side of the river, and coupled with the high river flow and it being a secluded area, she was unable to leave the situation.
Innisfail detachment, with assistance from Red Deer County Search & Rescue, Rocky Mountain House Search & Rescue, Innisfail and Red Deer County fire departments, the Civilian Aviation Search & Rescue, Red Deer County Community Peace Officers, Raven Crime Watch, and Rocky Mountain House RCMP, located the victim and made an arrest.
