A Red Deer man is facing charges of fraud and theft after an investigation by the Red Deer RCMP.

Police allege that the suspect stole more than $30,000 from two local businesses between August 2011 and March 2017.

The Red Deer RCMP Financial Crime Unit conducted an investigation between July 2018 and May of 2019, and uncovered the fraud. It is alleged that the man, a former employee of an insurance company, fraudulently deposited insurance refunds into his personal accounts.

Kent James Devlin, 38, has been charged with 11 counts, including two each of fraud exceeding $5,000 and fraud under $5000, and seven counts of theft under $5,000.
