David Swann calls for probe into doctors leaving Calgary’s medical examiner’s office

CALGARY- Alberta Liberal MLA David Swann is calling on Alberta Justice to find out why so many doctors are leaving the medical examiner’s office in Calgary.

Swann says the office does critically important work, yet doctors are departing and it’s difficult to find replacements.

He says the opioid crisis is putting a tremendous strain on the office and despite new hires to deal with an increase in cases, there are still significant delays.

Alberta Justice says three doctors who resigned last year haven’t left yet and their replacements are set to start this summer.
