UCP opens nominations for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake by-election

The United Conservative Party has officially opened its nomination period for the upcoming Innisfail-Sylvan Lake by-election.

Six people have already announced their intention to seek the UCP nomination for the constituency – Joan Barnes, Devin Dreeshen, Gayle Langford, Christine Moore, Mike Walsh and Victor Sloboda.

Party rules state that all applications must be accompanied by the signatures of 50 UCP members who reside in the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake constituency and non-refundable payments of $500 payment to the constituency association and to the United Conservative Party. A refundable $1000 good conduct bond, by certified cheque, bank draft or money order, payable to the UCP is also required.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 16. Party members will select a candidate in late April or early May.
