Sentencing next month in 2017 Red Deer homicide
A local man will be sentenced next month in relation to the death of a young Red Deer mother early last year.
In January, Lyndon Olsen pleaded guilty to negligence causing death involving a firearm. He’d previously been scheduled to face a jury trial from Sept. 17 – 25, 2018 on the more serious charge of manslaughter with a firearm.
Olsen, who is 35, was arrested on Feb. 6, 2017 in relation to the death of Randee Stewart, 25.
It was shortly after 6 a.m. on Feb.1, 2017 when RCMP were called to a report of possible shots fired near 54 Avenue and 43 Street. Moments later, another call came in about a truck crashing into a power pole on 42 Street near Red Deer Regional Hospital. The driver fled the scene.
