Modest tax rate increase for Blackfalds this year
Blackfalds residents will see a modest tax rate increase of just under one per cent in 2018.
This after Blackfalds town council gave final approval to the Property Tax Rate Bylaw this week.
Mayor Richard Poole says the tax increase will mean about an $8 hike per $100,000 of assessed value.
“Our average house is $308,000, so it would be a $24 increase,” explains Poole. “Council at the beginning of the budget process worked to ensure our increase was at or under CPI and are pleased that the goal was met.”
