Mounties effect numerous arrests and seizures during Enhanced Enforcement shifts
Bashaw RCMP and the Maskwacis Community Response Unit are among several law enforcement agencies being hailed for their efforts in numerous arrests and seizures in Wetaskiwin and the surrounding area over the past month.
Since July 19, Wetaskiwin RCMP have conducted three Enhanced Enforcement shifts in conjunction with Bashaw RCMP, the Maskwacis Community Response Unit and many other supporting units, including Wetaskiwin General Investigation Section, RCMP Rural Crime Reduction Project, Integrated Traffic Units, Stony Plain RCMP, Wetaskiwin City / County Peace Officers and RCMP Air Services.
Mounties say this ongoing effort to reduce property crime and high-risk driving behaviours resulted in 2,037 vehicle checks, 163 provincial violation tickets, 53 compliance checks, over 20 Criminal Code charges laid, several drug-related charges and numerous people arrested for various other offenses.
Police say these enhanced enforcement shifts are in alignment with KDivision’s Crime Reduction Strategy which impacts many communities including the City of Wetaskiwin, County of Wetaskiwin and Town of Millet.
