Ponoka Mounties lay arson charges for two fires
Mounties in Ponoka have laid arson charges for a pair of fires that occurred in the town.
It was just after 10:30 a.m. on May 2 when Ponoka RCMP and the Ponoka County Fire Department responded to a “suspicious fire” in town that investigators say was as a result of human action.
A suspect was identified and a 60-year-old resident of Ponoka was arrested and faces one count of arson.
Police say the suspect was later charged in relation to a suspicious fire which was reported on October 12, 2017 that was situated in close proximity to the May 2 fire and led to a garage being burned.
