McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour plays championship at Wolf Creek
Weather conditions were challenging at Wolf Creek Golf Course on Monday for the playing of the 23rd McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour Championship.
Mathieuu Chapdelaine, 18, of Connaught Golf Club in Medicine Hat was our new Junior Boys Tour Champion, turning in a score of 5-over 75, one shot clear of Kaiden Nicholson of the Edmonton CC, Chase Bodoano of Broadmoor, and Brendan Weiland of Springbank Links in Calgary.
Chase Broderson of Lacombe and Cole Bergheim of Red Deer were tops among local golfers as they finished tied for eighth at five-over 78.
In the junior girls’ division, Jayla Kucy, 12, of Camrose, continued her fine summer as she became the youngest champion in McLennan Ross Junior Tour history. Kucy, who captured the Alberta Golf Bantam Championship last week at Goose Hummock, fired an excellent score in the conditions of 77, six shots clear of Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick.
