Tradition Lives lacrosse tournament returns to Red Deer this weekend
Lacrosse teams from across Alberta will gather in Red Deer this weekend for one of the biggest tournaments of the year.
The 27th Annual Tradition Lives Box Lacrosse Tournament runs May 19-21 and will see 51 teams from throughout the province competing at the event in the Tyke through Midget divisions.
“For the Red Deer association, it’s our major fundraiser of the year, so it’s very significant to our organization,” explains Tournament Chair David Clark. “We try to provide an all-inclusive type of environment where kids of all abilities are welcome to come and play and hopefully we offer a good level of competition for all kids to play and enjoy.”
Clark adds there will also be vendors selling lacrosse equipment at some of their locations for the players in need of any upgrades, in addition to raffle prizes and auxillary prizes to be awarded throughout the weekend as well. He says it will be an exciting weekend as the sport’s popularity appears to be growing in Alberta.
