RED DEER- As part of the Inventures 2018 conference, a student entrepreneur pitch competition was recently held in Calgary.

Entrepreneurs were judged by a panel of experts that included investors on the merit of their idea as well as the polish of their pitch.

Joshua Banko of Prime Living Technologies, based in Alder Flats, placed second with his “Pneumatic Hot Water Priming System.”

“It was exciting, but nerve-wracking too,” says Banko. “I know my idea is innovative and important, and I think my passion for my product is what put me over the top.”

Banko’s invention diverts the water that is wasted while waiting for hot water to come through after the tap is turned on.

With his patent-pending system, a family of four can save up to 10% on their water bills each month.

As part of Banko’s prize, he will go to Banff for two days to be mentored by 14 successful high-growth entrepreneurs.

Banko is a client in the Central Alberta business incubator program, Catapult Entrepreneurs, where he receives coaching, mentoring, training, and support to develop his product and business.
