Weekend baseball wrap-up

Local baseball and fastball teams were busy over the weekend despite the cold, wet and windy conditions over the past couple of days.

On Saturday morning at the Shakers Tournament in Leduc the Aesthetic Solutions U19B Rage Fastball team were mercied 17-6 by the Badgers Ladies team from Red Deer.

Then on Saturday afternoon, the Rage beat the Sherwood Park Storm 12-4.

On Saturday night, the Rage defeated the High Park Hype from Edmonton 12-2 after 6 innings. 

Sunday morning saw the Rage take on the Strathmore Thunder but results aren’t available at this time.

Elsewhere, the Bantam AAA Braves suffered an 8-1 loss to the Calgary Junior Dinos Black at the Springbank Diamonds near Calgary on Sunday.

The second game in their double header with the Dinos was an 8-3 victory.

The Braves are playing 1 of 2 make up games from the weekend in Calgary at Inland Park on Tuesday, June 12th against the Calgary Cubs Blue.

This weekend on Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th the Bantam Braves are hosting the Fort McMurray Oil Giants and Lethbridge AAA at Great Chief Park. 

Games run at 12, 3 and 6 Saturday and 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

As for the Pee Wee AAA DQ Braves, they defeated Fort McMurray in a 12-2 blow-out victory on Saturday.

The Red Deer Lock and Safe Mosquito AA Braves were in Okotoks this past weekend.

Red Deer beat Camrose 22 -11 in their opening game before running in to two great teams and losing 18 – 4 to Okotoks and 16 – 6 to Innisfail.

The next league action for the Red Deer Lock and Safe Mosquito AA Braves is in Red Deer at the Hunting Hills High School diamonds, June 23 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and June 24 at 6 p.m.

Finally, the Mosquito AA 1 Dick’s Auto Braves defeated the Leduc Giants 11-3 Saturday morning in Leduc, while picking up a 13-0 shutout win over the Fort Saskatchewan Red Sox in Leduc Saturday afternoon.
