The expansion project at St. Patrick’s Community School helped lead a jump in building permit values last month in Red Deer.

Numbers released Tuesday by The City of Red Deer show 93 building permits were issued in September worth $33.7 million. In the same month last year 113 permits were issued worth about $13 million.

Notable permits for September 2018 include: a $15.6 million permit for the modernization of St. Patrick’s School; a $7.3 million permit for the Northside Community Centre; a $4.3 million dollar permit for an addition to the Red Deer Hospice; and a permit, valued at $1.2 million, for a private compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station.

When it comes to residential building permits, 57 were issued last month worth just under $2.9 million. In September 2017, 86 residential building permits were issued worth $5.3 million.
