RCMP arrest Innisfail shoplifters from Red Deer

Innisfail RCMP are touting the importance of civilian cooperation in their crime reduction efforts by reporting any and all suspicious activity.

This after Innisfail Mounties arrested a man and woman from Red Deer on June22 for allegedly trying to steal merchandise from an Innisfail store.

Police say the female suspect was detained at the store after giving a false name and during a search, stolen cheques and a substance believed to be methamphetamine was seized.

The male suspect was located a short distance away and also arrested.

A 34-year-old woman faces charges of mischief under $5,000, obstructing a Peace Officer, personation with intent, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with probation.

RCMP say the woman was also wanted on seven outstanding warrants out of Red Deer and Ponoka at the time of her arrest.

A 32-year-old man faces counts of failing to comply with probation and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Both remain in custody awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.
