Cab driver finds brick of Ketamine in back seat

Jul 3, 2018 | 10:26 AM

Police are investigating after a brick of Ketamine was turned in to them over the long weekend.

A cab driver found it in the back seat of his vehicle on June 30, according to Red Deer RCMP. The discovery occurred just before 2 p.m. that day.

RCMP attended and seized the drugs, before taking it in for testing using an ion scanner. The brick, which weighs about 1.6 pounds, was determined to be Ketamine.

Ketamine is typically used as a medication for starting and maintaining anesthesia — both in humans and animals — but is also known to be used recreationally.
