Province to decide next year on Blackfalds stormwater plan
A decision is expected early next year regarding a proposal from the Town of Blackfalds that would see treated stormwater directed into Lacombe Lake.
Jason Penner with Alberta Environment and Parks tells rdnewsNOW the Town of Blackfalds has responded to a supplemental information request regarding the Northwest Area Master Stormwater Management Plan and department specialists are now reviewing that response.
“The department is also reviewing the proponent’s response to the various Statements of Concern for this application,” says Penner. “Once this process is complete, the Director will review all of the application information prior to making a decision on the application. Due to the volume of information associated with this application, a decision isn’t expected until early in 2019.”
The Northwest Area Master Stormwater Management Plan would see rain water from new developments in Blackfalds transported through underground pipelines to a development-specific storm water management facility for attenuation and treatment before being discharged to Lacombe Lake, Whelp Brook and Wolf Creek.
