Road closures and transit disruptions during Westerner Days Parade

Central Alberta’s largest summer celebration gets underway this week and it all kicks-off with the Westerner Days Parade in downtown Red Deer on Wednesday.

This means local motorists can expect multiple road closures and traffic detours, along with transit disruptions July 18.

City officials say roadways on the parade route will be closed from roughly 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and parking will not be permitted along the parade route.

Transit disruptions during the parade include the last departure from Sorensen Station prior to the parade being at 8:45 a.m., with the last arrival into Sorensen Station prior to the parade being 9:00 a.m.

The first departure from Sorensen Station after the parade will be 12:15 p.m.

There will be no transit service during the parade.
