Riggers close regular season with home loss

Playoff time has arrived for the Red Deer Riggers.

The Riggers dropped their final Sunburst Baseball League regular season contest 7-5 to the Sherwood Park Athletics Tuesday night at Great Chief Park.

Next up for the Riggers is a date with the St. Albert Tigers in a best-of-three league and provincial semi-final playoff series. The series starts Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Great Chief Park and heads north to St. Albert the following night. Game three, if necessary, is scheduled for Aug. 10 in Red Deer.

The winner will battle the winner of the Sherwood Park vs. Confederation Cubs series for this year’s league and senior AAA provincial title, and a berth at nationals in 2019.
