A woman from B.C. has been hit with Alberta’s maximum fine for speeding after she was caught travelling at more than 200 km/h.

The 30-year-old woman was travelling on Highway 63 near the hamlet of Grassland in northern Alberta on August 14, 2017. Police say she was recorded going 215 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

During a subsequent traffic stop, RCMP received further complaints about the same vehicle driving at high rates of speed and passing other vehicles on double solid lines near the school in Grassland.

Samantha Bookey, from Aldergrove, B.C., did not attend her scheduled appearance at Boyle provincial court on Tuesday. As a result, she was found guilty and fined $2,300. Bookey has one year to pay the $2,300 fine or she will spend 25 days in jail.
