Red Deer man charged in flight from police incident near Spruce Grove

A Red Deer man and Edmonton woman are facing charges after RCMP arrested a pair of suspects accused of fleeing police from a construction site in Spruce Grove this week.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. July 31 when Mounties from Stony Plain / Spruce Grove located a suspicious vehicle at a Spruce Grove construction site.

Police say members tried to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop.

Edmonton Police Services Air 1 and the RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS) were called in to help with the search for the suspects, with one eventually found hiding under a trailer in a field.

A second suspect was arrested a short time later by Morinville RCMP.

Jody Peters, 42, of Red Deer has been charged with 13 offences including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, fail to comply with recognizance and possession of methamphetamine.

Peters has been remanded to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court August 22.

Shantell Hebert, 27, of Edmonton has been charged with failing to comply with undertaking. She was released from custody to appear in Stony Plain court September 6.
