A man charged after a truck crashed into a pub in north Red Deer this fall is going to trial.

Bradley Fisher is facing impaired driving and mischief-related charges for the incident on Sept. 22 when a truck drove through the entrance of the Lion’s Den Pub just after 10 p.m.

The male driver was said to have been restrained by occupants of the pub until police could arrive. Witnesses told police they saw a man leave the establishment in a taxi, then return a short time later in a truck before crashing it into the pub.

No one was injured, though damage was extensive.

Fisher will face trial in Red Deer Provincial Court on August 22, 2019.

Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for four men charged following a drug trafficking bust in Red Deer, Calgary and Lake Louise.

Red Deer RCMP started investigating in December 2017 following an anonymous tip about cocaine trafficking. A suspect was arrested and the investigation spread to Calgary and Lake Louise.

In April, a male and two females were arrested in a stolen truck near Lake Louise. Further arrests were made in Calgary in July.

Rico Small, Kareem Cummings and Jeremy Blackman will face a preliminary hearing July 12, 2019 in Red Deer provincial court. William Bowden has a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 26 in Canmore.

Brandy Ross is to appear in court in Calgary in January.

Trial has been scheduled for two men arrested in a suspicious vehicle near Poplar Ridge in late October.

One of them, Alexander Talbot, was out on parole at the time after being convicted of manslaughter in the March 2016 death of DJ Wegner-Cramer in north Red Deer.

Talbot faces 21 new charges including possession of a concealed weapon, 12 counts of weapon prohibition breaches, possession of property obtained by crime over and under $5000, and possession of a CDSA controlled substance.

Taylor Phelan faces 12 charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of weapon prohibition breaches, Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00 and under, driving while unauthorized and possession of a CDSA controlled substance.

Talbot and Phelan remain in custody ahead of their trial scheduled for July 25, 2019 in Red Deer.

A Red Deer woman arrested and charged following a police chase near Westlock over a stolen vehicle investigation will spend two years behind bars.

Annette Brown, 22, was wanted on six outstanding warrants at the time of her arrest. She pleaded guilty to seven counts Dec. 20 in Leduc provincial court including break and enter to commit theft, breach of recognizance and resisting a peace officer. Brown was sentenced to two years in federal custody.

Eric Unger, 28, of Red Deer is scheduled for trial Feb. 13, 2019 in Westlock in relation to this case.

A man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for a homicide in Maskwacis three years ago will spend nearly four more years behind bars.

Allan Joseph Soosay, 28, had originally been charged with second degree murder, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault causing bodily harm.

It was early morning on November 11, 2016 when officers responded to an altercation where two men were attacked with edged weapons. A 22-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries while a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital in Ponoka. An autopsy was conducted the following Monday in Calgary in which the death was ruled a homicide.

Soosay was sentenced on Dec. 17 to a total of seven years in prison. He’s already spent three full years behind bars.
