TransCanada Pipelines provided an overview to Clearwater County Council on Tuesday of new projects as well as community opportunities.

Company officials explained there will be more than two million dollars made available for communities along the TransCanada footprint.

Ongoing projects in Clearwater County include the Nordegg Compressor Station Site, Clearwater Compressor Station Site and the Brewster Pipeline Section.

Cole Thomson with TransCanada says the benefits of these projects to Rocky Mountain House include local employment opportunities, continued engagements with the business community, and community investment planned throughout the region.

“I think the work that we have proposed over the next 3-4 years in the area, we look forward to continuing to deepen the relationship we have proudly built with the community of Rocky Mountain House and with Clearwater County,” says Thomson.

TransCanada has also recently announced a new scholarship program. Students from the Rocky and Clearwater County area can apply for the scholarship to gain access to better education, retraining and economic diversification opportunities. Applications are available on the company’s website.

“There’s a ton of opportunity for collaboration and a ton of opportunity for continued relationship building, we’re going to be here for the long haul,” says Thomson.
