Shots fired in incident near Hanna

Residents then tracked the two stolen vehicles to a rural location where one truck attempted to pull the other out of the snow. Before police arrived, two shots were fired into the air by a resident in an attempt to stop an altercation with the suspects. No one was hurt.

“The RCMP would like to thank the residents as their assistance is what resulted in the arrests,” the detachment says in a release on Friday. “The RCMP would also like to caution people to not approach or pursue persons suspected of criminal activity due to the potential danger.”

Jimmy Morsette, 30, of Red Deer, and Angela Lewis, 19, of Ponoka, along with 36-year-old Jesse James Hollander of Sherwood Park, are charged with possession of stolen property over $5000, theft under $5000, theft over $5000, and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Morsette and Holander were also charged with breaching court conditions.

Morsette has been remanded and will appear in Hanna Provincial Court on Feb. 8.

Lewis was released on a promise to appear in Hanna court on Feb. 27.
