Red Deer RCMP say a man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a local dealership on Friday.

Police say they responded to a call about a stolen vehicle around 11 a.m. They were able to disable the SUV with assistance from built-in hardware.

The suspect was eventually apprehended and taken into custody near Ross Street and 30 Avenue.

As a result of the incident, a police vehicle sustained some damage, but there were no injuries. There was no risk to public safety either, according to Mounties.
