Waskasoo Creek getting some TLC

RED DEER- Work to improve conditions in the Waskasoo Creek channel between Gaetz Avenue and 48 Avenue adjacent to 43 Street and into Barrett Park is underway.

The City is working to restore areas in Waskasoo Creek that have sustained extensive erosion, and to address concerns about flooding in adjacent areas.

Repairs will use natural bioengineering elements to assist in increasing fish habitat and to retain the natural appearance of the creek through the downtown area and in Barrett Park.

Work will include creek bank repairs, which will use natural elements to help to stabilize the creek banks and reduce further erosion.
