Nicholas Galbraith, 31, pleaded guilty in court last week to dangerous driving. He was sentenced to 21 days in jail, satisfied by time already served. Galbraith also received a $1000 fine and was banned from driving for one year.

Three other counts against Galbraith including possession of cocaine, possession of stolen property over $5000 and driving without insurance were withdrawn.

A trial has been scheduled for a man charged with running an illegal marijuana grow op east of Innisfail.

RCMP executed a search warrant on March 24 at a rural property on Range Road 270 in Red Deer County. The investigation began earlier this year when ALERT was tipped off about the unlawful operation.

Mounties seized 739 plants, weighing just over 182 kilograms, harvested weed weighing almost 54 kilograms, and another three kilos of dried bud. A working hash oil extraction lab and equipment were also confiscated.

Also turned up were eight sea cans outfitted with what was described as sophisticated equipment including high intensity grow lights, fans, air conditioners, CO2 generators, dehumidifiers and light timers.

Shaun Charles Howell, 41, is charged with Production of Cannabis and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

His trial has been scheduled for July 23-24, 2018 in Red Deer.
