Final work on 67 Street Roundabout means closure on Saturday

Aug 22, 2017 | 4:05 PM

The roundabout at 67 Street and Johnstone Drive/Orr Drive is nearing completion and requires some road closures on Saturday.

Saturday August 26 the final paving work of the roundabout will take place and will require the following closures:

Starting at 6 a.m. Saturday August 26, the intersection of 67 Street and Golden West Avenue will close.

Eastbound traffic on 67 Street will be detoured on to Johnstone Drive to Taylor Drive
Westbound traffic on 67 Street will be detoured on to Golden West Ave and 71 Street to Johnstone Drive

When the above phase is complete (at 67 Street and Golden West Ave) the intersection will re-open and the westbound lanes of 67 Street from west of the roundabout to the QE2 overpass will close.

To access QE2 from westbound 67 street, use 32 Street or 11A via Taylor Drive
The roundabout will remain open for northbound, southbound and eastbound traffic

When the westbound lane paving is complete, both the eastbound and westbound lanes from west of the roundabout to the QE2 overpass will close briefly.

To enter the City from QE2, use 11A or 32 Street and Taylor Drive
To exit the City use 11A or 32 Street via Taylor Drive
The roundabout will remain open for northbound, southbound and eastbound traffic

Lastly, the eastbound lanes of 67 Street from west of the roundabout to the QE2 will close

To enter the City from QE2 use 11A or 32 Street and Taylor Drive
The roundabout will be open for all turning movements

Wayne Gustafson, Engineering Services Manager, said in a press release that they know the road closures are an inconvenience especially on a busy road such as 67th Street.

“But paving is the final piece of major work that needs to be done and these closures should allow us to complete all of the remaining paving in one day over the weekend.”

Paving is weather dependent and will be rescheduled to August 27 in the instance of inclement weather. Dynamic message boards will be utilized to inform drivers about the closures as they change throughout the paving process.

Updates can also be found on the City’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
