Derek Saretzky pleads not guilty to three counts of first degree murder
LETHBRIDGE – The trial is now underway for 24-year old Derek James Saretzky, the man accused of killing a father and daughter, as well as an elderly woman in the Crowsnest Pass in 2015.
The proceedings started Monday morning (May 8) with Saretzky pleading not guilty to three counts of first degree murder and one of committing an indignity to a human body.
It then launched into a voir dire – which is expected to run all week and possibly longer – to examine the admissibility of certain evidence. It is covered by a publication ban.
Following the voir dire, jury selection will begin, and the judge and jury trial will go from May 29 to June 30.
