Rebels fall to Hurricanes in shootout
The Red Deer Rebels scored late in the third period to send it to overtime, but the Lethbridge Hurricanes came out on top 5-4 in the shootout.
On Friday night in Lethbridge, both teams were held scoreless in the extra frame until round seven of the shootout, when Red Deer product Easton Daneault scored to lift the Hurricanes to victory.
As a result, the Rebelsβ four-game winning streak came to an end; however, since the game did go to overtime, they did gain a single point to continue to sit on top of the WHL with an 11-4-1-2 record.
The Hurricanes outshot the Rebels 41-33, but Red Deer had the upper hand in special teams, scoring two goals on three power plays. They also held the Hurricanes scoreless on five power plays.
