Oct 23, 2026 | 2:45 PM

The province is providing $2.5 million to support those affected by gender-based violence.

The funding will support 36 community organizations across the province “to end gender based violence,” with 14 in Calgary, seven in Edmonton, four in southern Alberta, seven in central Alberta and four in northern Alberta.

Grants range from $15,000 to $150,000 and will “will provide services such as justice-system navigation, safety planning, crisis intervention and restorative justice programming.”

Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women says “real progress on gender-based violence happens when governments, service providers and advocates work together, and by investing in the people and organizations leading this work across Alberta, we are helping those affected.”
