Alberta’s Crime Severity index for 2025 decreases 10.4 per cent
Statistics Canada is reporting a decrease in the Crime Severity Index in Alberta for 2025.
The agency says the CSI tracks both the volume and seriousness of police-reported crime by assigning weights to different offences.
In 2025, the CSI had a 10.4 per cent decrease compared to 2024, the lowest it has been since 2014.
The CSI tracks both volume and seriousness of police-reported crime across 149 jurisdictions in Alberta, 72 per cent of which experienced a decrease from 2024 to 2025.
