An extensive collection of automobilia, memorabilia, collectibles, and muscle cars is set to go to auction beginning tomorrow in Sylvan Lake.

From July 17-19, the Electric Garage or EG Auctions, will auction off the collection which they purchased from an individual from Radium, B.C.

Todd Schwindt, owner of EG Auctions, said it’s all original automobilia and memorabilia with items such as porcelain signs, gas tanks, and neon signs. Many of the collectibles are old enough to be in antique shops.

He said the value of the collection is over $1 million.

“There were actually 8,000 items within the eight cabins, but what we did was we packed it all up in multiple truckloads and brought it down to our facility in Sylvan Lake,” he said.

Beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m., those interested can head to the business’s five-acre facility located at 3 Industrial Drive and take part in the live auction.

Up for grabs is 2,500 lots of unreserved automobilia on Friday, as well as 300 memorabilia items. They’ll then reopen on Saturday for an auction at 10 a.m. for another 400 items of automobilia and 40 muscle cars.

They’ll then wrap up the live auction on Sunday, where another 400 items will be sold.

“Over the weekend, we’ll have 1,040 items in total being sold at our facility,” he said.

Those who can’t make it in person will be able to bid online during the live auction at EGAuctions.com. However, you must register to bid online.

Following the live auction, they will hold an online auction for the remaining items from July 20-25 on their website.

Schwindt said everything is currently hung up in their facility and is viewable.

“It would be virtually impossible for us to sell every item live because of the enormity of it,” Schwindt said. “It’s an unprecedented collection, and it’s the largest in Canada that’s ever been produced. It’s by far the biggest collection that we have ever sold.”
