Five people charged after multiple break & enters at Three Hills-area business

Jun 9, 2026 | 1:25 PM

Five people are facing criminal charges following two completely unrelated, and alleged, break-and-enters at a business near Three Hills.

The first incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on June 6, Three Hills RCMP say.

Members received a report at that time of a B&E at a gas plant in rural Red Deer County

The security company for the site saw a male and female suspect on video surveillance within the gated compound.

Suspects are said to have stolen fuel, before fleeing.

Police attended the area and located the suspects in a truck that had broken down on the side of the road. Both were arrested, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Police located contraband tobacco, illicit cannabis, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and break-in tools.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old woman and 46-year-old man, both residents of Mirror, were charged with the following:

  • Break and enter;
  • Possess break-in instruments;
  • Disguised with intent;
  • Mischief – damage to property;
  • Possession of a controlled substance;
  • Possession of illicit cannabis;
  • Trespassing; and
  • Possess cigarettes/tobacco not marked for tax-paid sale.
  • *The man was also charged with failure to comply with a release order

The pair was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on June 8, 2026.

The second incident is said to have occurred later that day, with RCMP receiving a call around 1:20 p.m.

According to RCMP, the security company observed two male suspects in the gated compound on video surveillance, who stole fuel and fled in a truck with an allegedly stolen license plate attached.

The vehicle was tracked to Red Deer with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP, Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), and RPAS, as well as Blackfalds RCMP, where it was followed until it came to a stop in an industrial area.

Police say the male suspects were located and arrested; then, police determined the vehicle was stolen and found break-in tools inside.

Police also arrested a female who allegedly lied about her identity and was wanted on an arrest warrant.

Three people: a 30-year-old man and 29-year-old from Stettler, and a 23-year-old woman from Airdrie face several charges.

They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. One is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on June 8, 2026; the others are scheduled to appear before the same court on June 9.

RCMP thank Zedcor Security for their excellent response to the incidents at the gas plant. The security systems installed at the site allowed police to investigate the matter fully and coordinate an effective response.
