As a result of council passing the zoning bylaw amendment, subdivision and development permits will be required at a later stage.

The rezoning application was supported by city administration, and out of 27 information packets sent out to landowners within 100 metres of the site, one letter was received in opposition.

The landowner against the application, who lives across the street from the land site, voiced concerns of a loss of privacy and increased noise.

Council also passed second and third readings of a separate zoning bylaw amendment to streamline the development permit process for excavation, stripping, and grading following a public hearing.

The amendment, administration says, promotes development with less red tape and more flexibility. It also provides clearer regulations that will allow for faster processing and improve development timelines.
