Update: Weather advisory issued for Red Deer

Apr 23, 2026 | 12:07 PM

Wind gusts in Red Deer and area should taper off this evening.

Per Environment and Climate Change Canada:

“Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow will continue to create challenging travel conditions this evening. Visibility may be suddenly reduced in heavier snow bands and blowing snow, and rapid accumulation on roads is possible. Gusty winds may also make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Conditions will improve early this evening as winds gradually diminish. Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility. Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.”

Winds today could gust to around 70 km/h.

The forecast high today is -2, going down to -4 overnight, and then up to -2 on Saturday.
