The RCMP Crime Reduction Team initiated the investigation on April 1 and a day later the investigation led the police to a rural residence.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, and a tire deflation device was deployed, but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed.

Police eventually stopped the vehicle with assistance from Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services.

The Red Deer man was arrested on outstanding warrants, but received additional charges of operating a conveyance dangerous to the public, flight from a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and driving a motor vehicle without insurance.

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Hearing, he was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 17, 2026.

In addition, when police were on the scene of the initial investigation, the driver of an SUV failed to observe with emergency lights and tow trucks working on the roadway. As a result, the SUV drove into the back of a stopped pick-up truck, causing a multi-vehicle collision.

Police say there were no injuries.

Police arrested and charged a 46-year-old female, the driver of the SUV, with impaired driving.

Red Deer RCMP are reminding the public to be cognizant and obey the rules of the road: slow down, move over, or stop for all emergency vehicles.
