Red Deer and surrounding communities have been placed under a snowfall warning.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) reports heavy snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 30 centimetres expected tonight and into Friday.
Officials say snowfall will begin over west central Alberta this evening and will intensify early Friday morning. The conditions will then continue through the day before ending near midnight on Friday night.
ECCC added that travel will likely be challenging and visibility will be reduced at times. Motorists should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions and allow extra time for travel.
