A Red Deer man accused of child exploitation offences has been sentenced to two years in jail, along with probation.

Kory Fraser Reay, 45, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Feb. 18, 2026, after being convicted on one count of possession of child pornography. Two other counts were withdrawn.

The Lacombe Police Service began their investigation on Aug. 3, 2025, after receiving a public tip, and later made an arrest without incident.

As a result, Kory Reay was originally charged with making child pornography available, possession of child pornography, and accessing child pornography.

The accused appeared before a Justice of the Peace shortly after his arrest and was released on extensive conditions.

“The Lacombe Police Service remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Chief Jason Dobirstein of the Lacombe Police Service, in a release, at the time of the arrest.

“Through strong partnerships and dedicated investigative efforts, we continue to pursue those who exploit children online. We extend our sincere thanks to ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit for their expertise and support throughout this investigation.”
