Feb 17, 2026 | 5:20 PM

Teachers from across central Alberta will gather at Red Deer Polytechnic this week.

Put on by the Alberta Teachers Association, the two-day Central Alberta Teachers’ Convention is set for Feb. 19-20 with over 1,750 educators in attendance.

“With nearly 300 sessions featuring more than 170 speakers, this event supports professional and personal growth for teachers across central Alberta,” as stated in a media release.

All public, separate and francophone teachers from Red Deer City, Red Deer Catholic, Timberline, Wolf Creek and Chinook’s Edge school divisions are invited to attend.

The convention will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 and Friday, Feb. 20.

This year’s speaker lineup covers a range of thought-provoking topics, including two time paralympian and motivational speaker Tammy Cunningham, who knows what it takes to overcome hardship, and TEDx speaker Hamish Brewer, who challenges conventional norms in leadership and education.
