Strong wind speeds recorded in Red Deer area Thursday

Though many areas of northern and southern Alberta experienced record-breaking warm temperatures on Thursday, many areas of eastern and central Alberta experienced very windy conditions. 

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Red Deer area saw 83 km/hr wind speeds on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. The same wind speeds were recorded even further east at Coronation. 

Winds are much calmer today with temperatures back down to normal as well for this time of year.
