Trial dates have been set for a central Alberta man charged following the seizure of drugs and firearms from a local residence this fall.

Jesse Bergstrom, 41, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench from Nov. 18-20, 2026.

He’s charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3);
  • Production of a controlled substance;
  • Weapons offences (x8);
  • Failing to comply with release order (x2);
  • Possession of counterfeit currency.

In early October, Mounties say the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) began an investigation into an alleged drug trafficker believed to be active in the central Alberta area, including within the city of Red Deer.

As a result of the investigation, Red Deer RCMP CRT, with assistance from Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Police Dog Services (PDS), and Sylvan Lake RCMP, executed a search warrant on Oct. 10, 2025, which led to the seizure of the following:

  • 1.17 kg of Cocaine;
  • 1.459 Kg of Methamphetamine;
  • 3.135 Kg of Fentanyl;
  • Equipment used to manufacture illegal drugs;
  • 3 loaded firearms.

Following his arrest, police say Bergstrom was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.

RCMP further note, this is the same individual subject to a search warrant where loaded firearms and over a Kg of ketamine was seized on April 17, 2025.

“This investigation demonstrates the excellent commitment and effort our teams make every day to increase public safety,” said A/Operation Support Officer S/Sgt. Ian Ihme, at the time of the arrest. “Our office, like all RCMP detachments, show a high level of interoperability and work in a coordinated effort to track down high risk offenders and drug traffickers no matter where they reside. Specifically in this file, there was a coordinated effort between our Crime Reduction Team, General Investigation Section, and the Sylvan Lake Detachment.”
