The Lacombe Police Service have arrested a Blackfalds man following a traffic stop on Monday.

On November 24, police say they pulled over a Chevrolet Malibu after observing it travelling with a mismatched license plate on Garden Road.

During the traffic stop, police observed open alcohol and, during the investigation, found a collapsible baton, a large hunting knife, brass knuckles and ammunition, all of which were seized.

Police also found that the 27-year-old man was a suspended driver and was breaching numerous release orders and court conditions, including a lifetime weapons prohibition. The attached license plate had also been recently stolen from Ponoka.

As a result, he was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order, and three counts of breach of probation.

He was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, where he was remanded into custody pending his next court date.
