Red Deer Catholic launches community engagement on full day, every day kindergarten for 2026–2027

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) says it is exploring the possibility of offering full day, every day Kindergarten across all 13 elementary schools beginning in the 2026 – 2027 school year.

As part of this process, the Division is inviting families, staff, and the broader community to participate in upcoming engagement sessions to help guide their decision.

“The Board of Trustees values community voice, and we are looking forward to seeing what parents and staff have to share about full day, every day Kindergarten,” said Board Chair Chris Andrew, in a press release.

“We are excited to see the possibilities for meeting families’ needs,” added Dr. Rhonda Nixon, Superintendent of Schools. “Their feedback is essential in helping us understand community needs and discern how full day, every day Kindergarten could best support early learning in our Division.”

To ensure all families have an opportunity to participate, we are offering both online and in-person community engagement sessions.

The online engagement sessions will be offered on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, with the first session from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and an evening session from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Officials say both sessions will provide the same information to offer flexibility for families who cannot attend one of the times.To obtain access information, including links to view the presentation and ask questions, contact Maria St. Pierre, Executive Assistant.

Following the in-person sessions, the Division says all information related to the community engagement will be published on the Division website.
